Bird Kingdom
For the bird lovers, this is paradise. Over 400 birds are found in this fascinating Aviary. Bird Kingdom has been a favorite for the tourist for almost 5 years and has won Niagara Falls Tourism’s prestigious Attraction of the Year” award 3 years in a row. Entering the front doors visitors are met with classic architecture and native jungle drum beats. You sense immediately that you’ve discovered something very different than a typical Niagara Falls attraction and a great adventure awaits.
The Aviary is home to a stunning variety of birds from around the world. There are over 400 free flying birds and the lush tropical forest in the middle of a 40 feet waterfall is a sight to be seen. One is able not to see the exotic birds, but there are opportunities to feed some birds and even let them sit on your arm. With a little patience, you’re sure to see a multitude of our vibrantly feathered friends.
Looking up, visitors may see a number of attractive birds high in the trees… Macaws, Hornbills, Blue-breasted Kingfisher from equatorial African forests, and the Micronesian Kingfisher, Parrots. On the ground, a small flock of Ibis from South America are graceful as always.
Bird Kingdom is comprised of 3 main visiting area’s, one dedicated to smaller songbirds, another featuring strictly nocturnal animals, bats and owls and the main atrium which is a 4 storey wonder featuring a giant waterfall, ponds and streams. Over 45,000 square feet of tropical adventure is designed so each turn will provide an exciting discovery. Recent additions include a free-flight Bird Show and an interactive Reptile Encounter Zone! There is so much to see, you won’t want to miss a thing. Plan ahead: To avoid crowds, plan the trip during the early months of summer or early mornings. Bird Kingdom is open all year. Call ahead for exact operating hours as they change seasonally.
Bird Kingdom does offer light snacks in their century old, hand carved teak, Nobleman’s house from the Island of Java, located in the main atrium and an award winning gift shop is located on the premises. The Aviary is located on 5651 River Road. From Clifton Hill, the Aviary is a 5 minute walk. The entrance fee for Adults is $15 and $ 10 for children. Children under the age of 4 are free.
