The Niagara Falls area is not only a hotspot for romantics, school field trips, gamblers, and waterfall lovers, but it is also an example of grass-roots community involvement, and a haven for artistic expression. In the old historic downtown less known to tourists, Queen Street has quickly developed into artistic and cultural movement spearheaded by local artists and community members.
Earlier this year the downtown community in Niagara Falls had put in motion creative development plans which include festivals, events, galleries, theaters, cultural centres, and green living spaces. Since then, Queen Street has quickly become the home of local inspiration and creative expression.
Four Triple Five Living Arts Space (located at 4555 Queen St.) is a community centre for arts and culture in downtown Niagara Falls. It offers a community environment that is open, friendly, accessible, and inclusive. This former nightclub has been renovated by volunteers and community members to create a space that cultivates creativity, thought, expression, and growth. By creating this free meeting spot for artists, the community also hopes that this will promote more artists to visit and showcase their work in Niagara Falls.
The Smoke Gallery, located at 4654 Queen Street in downtown Niagara Falls, has become a local gallery showcasing local and international artists work. The Smoke Gallery displays mixed media, photography, digital artwork, and other various styles of artistic expression. The purpose of the gallery is not just to sell these masterfully beautiful and unique pieces of art, but also to educate and promote the artistic development to Niagara Falls and the world.
