Ontario’s wine country

The combination of the relaxed rural atmosphere, beautiful scenery, and wonderful cuisine and wines is the reason Ontario’s wine regions have become one of the province’s most popular tourist destinations with a significant increase in visitors over the past decade. This year alone, more than 750,000 people are expected to visit Ontario wineries, and take part in winery tours and hundreds of special events happening throughout the summer.

Visiting wine country is not only about tasting excellent Ontario wines,
but also about soaking up the wine country culture and experience, and
learning about Ontario wines, winemaking and regional cuisine,” says Linda
Franklin, President, Wine Council of Ontario. “Winery owners understand this
and have put together an inspired list of summer events to suit all tastes. In
addition to the daily winery and vineyard tours at most of Ontario’s 46
wineries, visitors can participate in the more than 50 special events in
August to guarantee that their wine country experience is as unique as their
individual tastes.”

“Only a short drive away in Ontario’s wine regions, some of the world’s
finest winemakers are producing wines that are winning international awards,”
says Franklin. “To get the most out of a trip to wine country, we recommend
that visitors take their time driving the scenic wine route, enjoying the
wonderful wines, cuisine and range of winery activities along the way.”
